Canada Inks Up! Team Blog Hop

I am so thankful for the inspiration and motivation I receive from many other Stampin' Up! demonstrators.  This month the Canada Inks Up! Team Blog Hop features birthday cards. I decided earlier in June that I would feature a technique shown to me by a fellow Dragonfly Diva teammate, Marjorie Harding-Leavitt. The technique uses leftover scrap strips of designer series paper (DSP) to create a sunburst effect.

I chose to highlight the Sweet as a Peach stamp set
and You're a Peach DSP.
The strips were a combination of 1" and 1 1/4" and varied in length.
I cut them diagonally top right to bottom left
and then laid them out in alternating pattern.

I cut a piece of basic white 4"x5 1/4" to adhere these triangle strips on to.
First finding and marking the centre
before using Mono glue to stick them down,
beginning at the centre line and working outward.

Once the glue dries, turn it over so you can trim off the edges...
I cut mine down to 3 7/8" x 5 1/8"
At this point I added a piece of Gold shimmer ribbon horizontally in the middle
before attaching onto a piece of Calypso Coral card stock 4" x 5 1/4"
I put this onto a piece of Basic white
(regular card base 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" scored at 4 1/4")

The next thing needed was die cut label for my sentiment.
I love the Stitched So Sweetly dies!
I cut the smaller out of Basic White
and the larger out of Calypso Coral card stock.

Using the Stamparatus makes perfect placement of sentiments super easy.
You can see I used two different colours, Calypso Coral and Pale Papaya,
to stamp Happy Birthday and to a sweet friend.

The best feature of the Sweet as a Peach stamp set is how beautifully
you can create realistic colouring.
I used a sponge dauber to ink up the stamp first with the lighter colour
and then sponged on just a little of the darker on part of the stamp.
The Peach dies perfectly cut out all three peaches.
I also cut out three mini leaves to add and sponged them in Pear Pizzazz.
Last touches were a few Mango Melody sequins
(from the Artistry Blooms set)

Voila! A stunning birthday card that I will be proud to mail to a friend!
