Hexagon Twist Pocket Card

I am heading to Brisbane Australia!!!

Every year Stampin' Up! holds a conference and this year I am attending with a fellow teammate and our wonderfully successful upline!

One of the best things about conference is the chance to swap cards, so I designed a similar version of this Hexagon Twist Pocket Card for a fancy fold swap. Thanks to Pinterest and The Paper Pixie for the inspiration.

I started with a 8 1/4 inch x 8 1/8 inch piece of card stock.
On the 8 1/8 inch side: score at 1/2 inch, 2 7/8 inch, 5 1/4 inch and 7 5/8 inch
Turn and on the 8 1/4 inch side score at 4 1/8 inch

Your card stock should look like this

I then scored diagonally as shown in the photos below.

You will need DSP cut to the following size
One cut 2 1/4 by 4 inches
Two cut 2 1/4 by 3 7/8 inches (these will then be cut diagonally top right corner to bottom left corner)

Flip card stock over and attach DSP as indicated in photo

Using tear and tape on side tabs, fold in half and secure sides.

Now fold down carefully while twisting clockwise...it may take some finessing.
Using a bone folder, make sure you have burnished the creases well.
It should look like this

I used gold trim that I secured to the front with a glue dot before adding a sentiment, cut two pieces of white card stock  2 1/4 by 3 7/8 inches for the inside and added a small strip of DSP to coordinate. I then added a gift card before tying up.

This card used the Fruit Salad Sale-a-bration DSP, Peach Pie card stock, sentiment (from My Small Business stamp set) was stamped and backed in Granny Apple Green. Tied using Gold Trim.

Canada Inks Up! April Blog Hop

Hello my crafty friends. Today our blog hop offers a taste of some products available when the new Annual Catalogue launches on May 3, 2022. I am so excited to see a larger selection of images for masculine cards so I am showcasing the new 'Brewed for You' stamp set with a small sample of He's the Man DSP and a simple technique I saw on Facebook using blends&window sheets. My card is fairly straight forward as I prefer a simpler look.

Once I'd selected the stamps/dies I wanted
I cut a standard card base in Crumb Cake measuring 8 1/2 by 5 1/2
and scored at 4 1/4.

Then I leafed thru the new He's the Man DSP,
look at these amazing masculine patterns...

I cut a piece 4 by 5 1/4 to layer on my card stock base.
Then using a different pattern cut a strip 4 by 1 1/2.

I stamped my images/sentiments onto Crumb Cake
using Early Espresso ink.

Here's the 'technique' I saw someone do on Facebook.
I grabbed a scrap of window sheet
(that happened to be laying on my desk)
attached adhesive sheet to the back
(so it would be easy to stick on my card)
and coloured it with Stampin' Blends
(So Saffron and SU200 from the Natural Tones)

NOTE: give it time to dry before the next step!

I used the Brewed dies to cut out both my images
and the coloured window sheets
(you'll see why at the end!)

All cards need embellishments...
yes even those for the men in your life 😉

So I decided to unravel the Frayed Ribbon and add it for texture.
Are you anxiously awaiting the reveal of my design?

OK, here's my card...

As a fan of craft breweries this set was top of my list
so I know it'll get a ton of use!

Canada Inks Up! February Blog Hop

Welcome to the Canada Inks Up! Blog Hop.
This month's theme is SPRING and
I can not wait to see flowers poking up in my garden!
With that in mind,
I dug out the Hand-Penned Designer Series Paper
and began to create.

I am in love with colouring the flowers in the
Blessings of Home stamp set,
whether using Stampin' Blends,
Stampin' Write markers
or watercolour tools
the flowers always seem to look amazing.
I also appreciate that the coloured images
always match the DSP and card stock when using
Stampin' Up! products.

After colouring my image,
I used dimensionals to pop it off a die cut shape
from the Tasteful Labels Dies (my go-to set)
It needed a sentiment...hmmm spring...Mother's Day
and of course BLING!

This card came together wonderfully

I love how easy it can be to create a beautiful card with
Stampin' Up! products, but more importantly
I love the community of stampers that continue to encourage me to create.
Thank you xo

Canada Inks Up! January 2022 Blog Hop

Welcome to the first Canada Inks Up! Team Blog Hop of 2022

Our theme this month is the new 2022 J-J Mini Catalogue.
This mini catalogue is packed with more than 50 stamp sets, 25 sets of dies and 8 Designer Series Paper packages it was hard to choose which one to highlight!

I settled on keeping it simple, as is my style...so I am using the Flowing Flowers stamp set, Blackberry Bliss ink and a piece of the New Horizons DSP.

Originally when I stamped the flower image (once fully inked and the other two after stamping off) I thought I might layer the DSP onto Rich Razzleberry card stock, however I changed my mind and stayed with Blackberry Bliss card stock as it looked better (in my opinion). To be honest I almost double mounted it haha.

This distinctive stamp set does not come with dies, but they are really easy to 'fussy cut' using Stampin' Up! Paper Snips. After cutting out the flowers I adhered them to the Blackberry Bliss card stock and cut them out a second time leaving a border.

This sentiment is perfect for us card makers
as these days so many use their mobility device to keep in touch.
I did use a Taylor Made Tag to die cut the shape and
attached it to the card using dimensionals.

No card is complete without some embellishment!
The only ribbon I had on hand was the Fresh Freesia Open Weave
(which, not surprisingly, coordinated really well)
and I chose to colour the Basic Rhinestone Jewels using
the dark Blackberry Bliss Stampin' Blend.

This card would be lovely in many different colours and
is fairly easy to make with only a few supplies.
Simple, easy and so perfect for that someone special.

Happy stampin' my crafty friends!

Canada Inks Up! Team Blog Hop October

This months blog hop theme is punches. I am a stamper that loves anything that makes it easy to create pretty simple cards...and punches sure do that!  I made the following card fairly quickly and can recreate it using different colours so that I have a great set to give as a gift.

I am featuring the In-Color Fresh Freesia and pairing it with Basic White. Measurements are written for your reference and I used the Tasteful Textures Embossing folder on the smaller white mat.

I chose different patterns from the In-Color DSP
and then used the Rectangular Postage Punch to cut four pieces.

I adhered my layers
and then mounted the postage stamps
leaving a larger space in the centre
to wrap the Fresh Freesia ribbon around and tie.

I just LOVE that I can rely on Stampin' Up! products to match,
whether it be ink or paper or ribbon or embellishments

Dragonfly Garden is probably one of my most used stamp sets
(I might even have blogged about it in the past)
And the punch makes it so simple to cut out the beautiful dragonflies!

Of course every dragonfly should have a touch of Wink-a-Stella

I stamped the sentiment using Fresh Freesia ink
onto a Basic White rectangle postage stamp
and then used my Blending Brush
to ink up the edges creating a border.
I popped up my sentiment using dimensionals
and then stuck on my dragonfly.

Here's my finished card!

Anything but Christmas - Blog Hop

Welcome to the Canada Inks Up! Team Blog Hop. As a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator I am constantly inspired by others and look forward to seeing what they come up with when challenged. This month's blog hop theme is 'anything but Christmas' so I chose to focus on two stamp sets you can get for FREE until the end of the month! The Delicate Dahlias set is free with a minimum $120 purchase and In Your Words the free host set during Sale-A-Bration (ending September 30, 2021)

I am first and foremost a very simple stamper, however I struggle with colour choices. For my card, I chose Mango Melody and So Saffron with a touch of Mossy Meadow because I don't use these often.

Delicate Dahlia's is a two step stamp, so I first stamped it in So Saffron and then in Mango Melody
and then I fussy cut the image.

For the leaves, I stamped the outline in Mossy Meadow and used the same ink
for the fill (but stamped off once to lighten the colour)

I stamped the sentiment in Mango Melody and then cut it out with a shape die
from the Tasteful Label Dies... I use these ALL THE TIME!

When it was time to put my card together I used;
Mossy Meadow card base (5.5 x 8.5 scored at 4.25 portrait)
So Saffron layer (4 x 5.25)
Mango Melody piece (4 x 3.75)
This last piece I ran thru my Cut&Emboss mashing
using the Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder.

Final touch is always bling...today I chose the Artistry Blooms Adhesive-backed Sequins

A very simple, yet cheerful card to send off to a friend

Canada Inks Up! Blog Hop - Christmas in July

The theme this month is Christmas in July. There's no time like the present to begin preparing for the season's greetings and as demonstrators we have the privilege of pre-purchasing products from the new mini catalogue that launches live on August 3, 2021. Although you'll see I chose DSP from the annual catalogue and paired it up with a new stamp sentiment and die cut.

Now I have to admit, getting my head around stamping Christmas cards in July was a stretch, but I packed some of my supplies on a recent camping trip and thought here goes...

I am lucky to have married a man who loves to fish, so while he's trying to catch dinner I happily hang out and make cards...it's so peaceful and relaxing!

I'd tell you I was limited in what I could create, but in reality some of my favourite cards are made with S.I.P (stamps, ink and paper) Having the mini stamp, cut and emboss machine is a bonus!

I chose the DSP first and then picked out my two new favourite 'in-colors' Soft Succulent and Evening Evergreen. I cut them to layer under basic white which I used to mount my DSP rectangles. See photos for measurements. Using the sentiment from the new Christmas to Remember stamp set, and holly leaves from the Christmas Season set, with co-ordinating die cuts from the Seasonal Labels dies as well as the Christmas Pinecone dies, this card came together quickly. The following photos show how I put the card together.

A few tricks...I used the Adhesive sheets mounted on the Gold Metallic Specialty paper to cut out the pinecone and gave my sentiment a pop of colour along the edge using a sponge dauber.

Of course all cards need embellishing, so I added Evening Evergreen ribbon and a Brushed Metallic dot and then popped this off my card using Dimensionals.

Happy Christmas in July...I hope my fellow stampin' friends are enjoying their summer! I'd love it if you'd join my private Facebook group SimplyStampinwithSandra or follow my public Facebook page SimpleStampin'Cards
